Fort Bridger Historic Site. Fort Bridger was established along the Oregon Trail in 1843 by Jim Bridger and Louis Vasquez as an emigrant supply stop. Bear Lake. Bear Lake, located in northeast Utah 60 miles north of Evanston, is a large recreational lake open to boating, fishing, swimming and other water activities. The lake is commonly referred to as the Caribbean of the Rockies for its beautiful turquoise color cause by limestone particles.
