Historic Downtown Evanston
Historic Downtown Evanston was a frontier Union Pacific railroad camp. A canvas tent was the site of the first saloon and restaurant. Soon machine shops and a roundhouse were built and shops and other businesses soon followed. The Historic Roundhouse and Machine shop have been beautifully restored and now host many special events, conventions, and celebrations for community members and visitors to enjoy. Historic Depot Square houses the diverse Uinta County Museum, the historic and beautifully reconstructed Railroad Depot, and intriguing Joss House Museum. Many of the historic buildings in Downtown Evanston house restaurants, art galleries, quaint little shops, and businesses. Enjoy the historic ambience as you shop and dine in the downtown area. Special events are often featured in the historic downtown area. Such as: The Brew Fest, Freedom Biker Rally, Chili Cook off, New Year's Eve Celebration, Chinese New Year, and many other community events.
